After a day on the Otago Central Rail Trail, relaxing in a deep bath is one of the joys of staying at the Avalon Manse and Schoolhouse. Another is convenience. Alongside the Rail Trail only a short stroll from the Oturehua Tavern and Gilchrists Store, the fully self-contained Schoolhouse once was home to the principal of the now closed Oturehua School. It’s also ideally positioned for exploring the long abandoned Golden Progress Mine.

If there is more than six in your group, an additional three double bedrooms are available in the Avalon Manse. Both the Schoolhouse and Manse provide all the comforts of home including fully equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge, bathroom facilities. Linen included.

The Avalon Manse and Schoolhouse is ideal accommodation for groups of up to 12 Rail Trailers. Breakfast and other catering can be arranged.
