Built in 1898 as a very big house for the large Leask family, its many bedrooms have been hotel accommodation since 1906. The Otago Central Rail Trail has given the hotel a new lease on life. Winter 2007 was a busy time working on a number of refurbishment projects including bringing the native wood flooring back to its original beauty.

They don’t know it, but most New Zealanders know the Omakau Commercial. Its stone stables set the scene for an enormously popular ‘Southern Man’ Speight’s Beer commercial "The Two Tickets to the Ball”  This is open throughout the day so you can come and see this wonderful old building – bring your camera!  It is also available for functions.

We are open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner Bookings are essential in busy season so we can provide the level of service we strive for – see you soon!
