Rail Trail accommodation doesn't come any more family-friendly than Mirabell Chalets. A short distance from Clyde and only a few hundred metres off the trail, the three chalets represent hosts Graeme and Deirdre's ideal for a family-orientated place to stay.

After travelling when their children were young, Graeme was determined to create accommodation they always wished for self-contained with a well equipped kitchen, a decent-sized separate bedroom for parents to escape to, and bed flexibility. Beds are moved and made up to guests' needs, whether it's a family or a group of adults doing the Rail Trail together. With four hectares of well-fenced grounds, Mirabell has tons of space for play, exploring or relaxing. There's a games room and a large tee pee where your cowboys and indians are welcome to play. For city kids, feeding free-wandering Mirabell hens can be a real thrill, with the reward next morning of eating a fresh-laid egg.

The near-new chalets are solid wood construction and offer all the comforts of home which makes them all the better for using as a base for the first few days on the Rail Trail. Imagine being able to return to a muscle-relaxing soak in the outdoor hot tub, or on a hot summer's day a swim in the pool. Graeme or Deirdre will drop off and pick up pretty much all the way to Oturehua and Wedderburn.
