Cycling, golf and fishing. Nowhere do these popular pursuits come together more memorably than at Argyll on Clyde Bed and Breakfast. An easy few hundred metres from the start/finish of the Otago Central Rail Trail, Argyll is directly opposite Clyde's nine hole golf course, one of the best maintained country courses in New Zealand, and only minutes away from fishing the Clutha River or Lake Dunstan.
Near new and a fine example of Central Otago architecture, Argyll on Clyde definitely has that 'x-factor' when it comes to spoil-yourself luxury and comfort. Having enjoyed running a successful farmstay in South Otago, Trish and Alan May where keen to open a bed and breakfast when they relocated to Clyde.
Argyll, named after their farm, is essentially purpose built with a separate guest wing housing a queen bedroom with ensuite offering both bath and shower, and a queen bedroom and twin bedroom sharing a private bathroom. High quality beds, fine linen and plush bath towels are the order of the day. For Trish and Alan the greatest joy of providing bed and breakfast accommodation is when guests join them in the lounge, at the table, over a barbecue or even in the top end spa which Trish says has countless air jets aimed to sooth muscles tired from pumping bike pedals or swinging a golf club. As well as being a fishing guide, Alan also offers personalised four wheel drive adventure tours of the surrounding Old Man, Old Woman and Cairnmuir Ranges. |
