Ask how long has Alexandra Holiday Park been there on the banks of the Manuherikia River, the reply is invariably ‘always’. The truth is a bit over 60 years. And yes, this is how tens of thousands of New Zealanders have spent their summer holidays, loving every minute.
Alexandra Holiday Park 35 hectares swallows up hundreds of tent and caravan sites leaving plenty of room to offer those doing the Otago Central Rail Trail a choice of 2 and 4 berth basic cabins and almost new self-contained units accommodating 2 to 8.
For those doing the trail as a large group, the park’s conference centre, ‘The Complex’, can accommodate up to 27 in five bedrooms. The conference centre has its own kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Basic cabins are comfortable, clean and close to kitchen and ablution blocks. Some cabins have microwave cooking and television.
Made using modern modular construction eight near-new self-contained units are every bit as good in real life as they are in the photographs. Some are divided off to provide a 2/3berth studio units.
Leave the Rail Trail at Alexandra, turn up SH85 and less than 100 metres you’re heading to the reception office and well-provisioned store to be shown your accommodation. |
